- When driving around Austria, it is indispensable to buy a “vignette” toll sticker, which allows you to travel on motorways and expressways.
Day 1: Flight to Vienna.
Check-in at your home airport 90 minutes before the designated departure time of your flight to Vienna. Arrival and collection of rental car, which will be available for 7 days. (Customer must purchase of non-refundable taxable Security Surcharge of between 7.27 EUR per day, maximum 72.70 EUR per rental when driving from Austria to Slovakia). Head to Bratislava (45 km). Depending on the time of arrival, you can visit the main attractions of the city such as the Castle, the Cathedral of Saint Martin, Primate's Palace and the Church Clarisse. Overnight in Bratislava.
Day 2: Bratislava-Zilina.
In the morning, after breakfast, drive to the town of Piestany, famous seaside resort town. Visit the city and if you wish, take a beauty treatment or relax in a spa. Continue destination to Trencin passing through Castle Beckov ruins. Trencin, located at the foot of Strazovske Mountain in the Vah river valley is the only place in Slovakia, whose existence has been documented since the Roman Empire. Route continues through Cicmany whose distinctive feature is its exquisitely outer decorated houses. Finally get to Zilina where we recommend you to visit the old town with its main square. Night in Zilina.
Day 3: Jasna Zilina.
In the morning, after breakfast, way to Terchova, a traditional mountain village in the National Park Fatra and Janoski, birthplace of the slovak Robyn Hood. From Vratna Oravský Podzamok, you can visit the fairy tale castle of Orava. Then it's time to continue the route to the village of Vlkolinec, declared World Heritage Site by Unesco. Finally go over the alpine valley of Demanovska Dolina, in the National Park of the Low Tatras. Night in Jasna.
Day 4: Jasna-High Tatras.
After breakfast, drive to the High Tatras, the highest mountains in the slovak Alps. There you can visit Strbske Pleso, the highest village in Slovakia, the town of Stary Smokovec, Tatranska Lomnica and Spisska Sobota, the historical part of Poprad. In this region you can not miss the typical restaurants "Koliba" where you can taste traditional meals. Night in the High Tatras region.
Day 5: High Tatras-Banska Bystrica.
In the morning, after breakfast, way toward Spiss region, rich in historical monuments and heritage sites filled by Unesco. For example Spissky Castle Hrad, Spisska Kapitula or Kezmarok historic city with its castle. You can’t miss the historic Levoca. In the afternoon drive to the center of Slovakia, whose main town is Banska Bystrica. Overnight in Banska Bystrica.
Day 6: Banska Bystrica-Stiavnica.
After breakfast, we recommend a walk through the historic center of Banska Bystrica and then continue to Hronsek, where you can visit the wooden church. In Zvolen theres is amazing castle. Spend the afternoon in Banska Stiavnica and discover a historic mining town, and for many people the most charming small town in Slovakia. Overnight in Banska Stiavnica.
Day 7: Banska Stiavnica-Bratislava.
From the center of Slovakia, drive to Nitra, the oldest town in Slovakia where you can not miss the Cathedral of St. Emeran. After visiting Trnava, continue the route known as the "Slovak Rome" because of its many sacred monuments. There you can find the Cathedral of San Juan Bautista (baroque style). Then you can visit the Red Castle in the wine region of the "Little Carpathians", where is located the town of Modra. Finally in Pezinok there is a famous pottery factory. Overnight in Bratislava.
Day 8: Way back to Vienna and "Home"
. Depending on the departure time of your flight you can take the morning to visit the Devin Castle, Bratislava’s second Castle, or a tour on the capital to do last minute shopping. You must return the rental car at the airport in Vienna about 120 minutes before the scheduled departure of your flight. Check-in and flight to your home airport. Arrival and end of the trip to Slovakia.
