Day 1: Flight to Vienna.
At the stated time, scheduled flight to Vienna, the capital of Austria. Upon arrival, make your way to your chosen hotel in the city. Enjoy the rest of your first day to get a first impression of is stunning imperial capital. Night in Vienna.
Day 2: Discover Vienna.
You’ll have the whole day to wander around and visit the city. First and foremost, Vienna is an old imperial capital and conserves its glorious past in the form of amazing palaces and historic buildings. All you have to do to see most of them is walk around the Ringstraße, but make sure you don’t miss the enchanting old quarter around St. Stephen’s Cathedral. And a visit to Vienna isn’t complete without seeing Hofburg and Schönbrunn Palaces. But in addition to all that, Vienna is also a great, modern European capital and you won’t be disappointed by its vitality. Night in Vienna.
Day 3: The Danube Valley.
Enjoy breakfast and then pick up your hire car that you’ll be using for the next week. On your way to Salzburg, why not stop off in the Danube Valley and visit the stunning wine-growing region known as Wachau. You might fancy a trip on a boat along the river, or you might like to visit the historic towns of Dürnstein and Krems or see the famous Melk Abbey. Arrive in good time to Salzburg so you can unwind in the bright city. Night in Salzburg. 300 km.
Day 4: Salzburg.
Spend the day discovering Mozart’s home town, undoubtedly one of Europe’s most stunning. The city is known as the “Rome of the north” thanks to its history and magnificent baroque architecture. But Salzburg has everything: an impressive fortress, charming streets, magical squares, palaces, gardens and, of course, Mozart’s birthplace which you can visit. Mid-afternoon, set off towards the Alps where the city of Innsbruck awaits. Night in Innsbruck. 180 km.
Day 5: Innsbruck, capital of the Tyrol.
Spend the day discovering Innsbruck, the capital of the Tyrol. We suggest starting with the new funicular railway leading to Nordpark, the spectacular work of Zaha Zahid, and enjoy the breath-taking views. In the old town, you have typical streets, the “Golden Roof”, the Court Church, Hofburg Imperial Palace and the Tyrolean Folk Art Museum, plus much more. Round off the day at the Olympic ski jumping hill located in Bergisel. Night in Innsbruck.
Day 6: Grossglockner High Alpine Road.
On your way to Graz we recommend the spectacular Grossglockner High Alpine Road which crosses all the way through the Hohe Tauern National Park. From Fusch, the road passes through mountain landscapes up to the Franz Josef Höhe with views of the largest glacier in the eastern Alps. The whole day is filled with one stunning view after the next so you can enjoy the best the Alps has to offer. Passing through the state of Carinthia, famed for its lakes, you’ll reach Graz where you’ll be spending the night. 500 km.
Day 7: Discover Graz.
Spend the day discovering this stunning city with the largest of all the old towns in German culture. Just enjoy walking around discovering the numerous points of interest the city offers: the Hauptplatz, Landhaus, the Clocktower, the Arsenal with its collection of weaponry, the Stadtpark, the Cathedral, etc. Return to Vienna at the end of the day where you’ll spend the night. 200 km.
Day 8: Return from Vienna.
If you have a bit of spare time (depending on your flight time), take one last walk around Vienna before returning your hire car at the airport. At the stated time, take your flight back to your airport of departure. Arrival and end of the trip.
